Just Add Ink have a new sketch Challenge this week.  For my inspiration, I used the cold weather we have been having lately and it’s also my grand niece’s 4 th birthday and I thought she would love a penguin card for her birthday.

Stamps: Well Scripted (sentiment inside card)
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black
Ink: Baja Breeze
Accessories:  Basic Black Marker, Dazzling Diamonds, Snowflake embossing folder,
Snowflake Die, Small Snowflake Punch,   1 3/4″ Circle punch, large Oval Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ circle punch, I Heart Hearts Punch, Owl Punch, White Gel Pen,    Glue Pen, foam pads

I started with a base card made from Bashful Blue cardstock.  I added a snowflake embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock, followed by a strip of Tangerine Tango.  Next, I added snowflakes and some left over pieces of cardstock from when the large snowflake was pressed out.  I used these to make the icicles.  Before adhering them to the base card, I touched some of the images with a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds.

I then made an igloo, by punching out 2 1 3/4″ circles.  One in black and one in white.  I then cut the white circle to form blocks and then adhered them to the black circle.  I trimmed the base and repeated the processed for a 1″ Circle to form the entrance. To finish off the entrance I added a half 1/2″ Circle.  Before adhering the igloo to the base card, I again added some Dazzling Diamonds.

For the penguin, I punched out 2 large ovals, the long heart from I Heart Hearts punch, an eye from the Owl punch, 1/2″ Circle and 1″ circle.  Once I put the penguin together, I added a pupil using a black maker and some white marking using the gel pen.  To finished off the penguin, I added Dazzling Diamonds to the wing and the belly of the penguin.

Inside the card I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and the birthday sentiment from the Well Scripted stamp set.

I like to make things in advance for Christmas and when I was on Julie Buhler’s website I came across a tutorial for a really sweet treat box.  I just had to make it and I thought I would use the new Jolly Holiday DSP.  For the treat boxes, I followed Julie’s instructions, but because I don’t have a Stampin Up cozzule I used the Fiskars Oval template to make the oval cut out on the dsp and the card stock.  I also decided to use the Scallop Trim border for the lid of the box and I made an acetate window with the Sizzix Oval die.  To finish off the Old Olive treat box I used the Contempo Christmas ornament and Old Olive ribbon.  For the Early Espresso box I made a Christmas Owl Elf, by making an Elf hat using the butterfly punch and dressing him in a combination of Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.  The pom-pom on the hat is one of the eyes that was cut out from the Very Vanilla Owl that I punched.  I finished off the box with Early Espresso ribbon.

Just Add Ink have a new sketch challenge this week.  For this challenge I started with a base card made from Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I then trimmed a piece of Haiku DSP to be slightly smaller than the face of the base card and adhered a piece of Old Olive 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon to the DSP.  I then used the large oval punch, the 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1″ circle punch and the 1/2″ circle punch to make the little Japanese girl.  I followed the instruction that I found on Dee Slater’s website, however I changed it ever so slightly when I made the Japanese girl.  I then adhered the Japanese girl to the card with foam pads.  I tied a bow in some twine and adhered the bow to the ribbon near the top of the card.  To finish off the card, I stamped the word Friendship from the Kaiser Friendship stamp using Pumpkin Pie Ink on to one of the tags from the Sizzix Lots of Tags die.  I then stamped the Friendship stamp on to the envelope.

This week the girls at Double Dutch are asking for card or creation that is either made in the shape of a number or has a number included on it.  I have made this card for my son’s 9th birthday which is still some weeks away, but I thought it was a good time to start.  I started with a base card made from Soft Suede cardstock.  I then trimmed a piece of Whisper White cardstock to be slightly smaller than the base card.  I embossed this card stock with the Swiss Dot embossing folder and adhered to the base cardstock.  I then used the Top Not Die, I punched out two Top Notes, one in Whisper White and the other in Baja Breeze cardstock.  The Whisper White Top Note, I trimmed along the dotted line and embossed with the Devine Swirl embossing folder.  I adhered the Whisper White Top Note to the Baja Breeze Top Note and then adhered to the embossed Whisper White cardstock.  Using Baja Breeze scraps I punched out some shapes using the 1 3/8″ circle punch, the large oval punch and the word window punch.  Then using some scrap pieces of Soft Suede cardstock I punched 2 flowers which have 5 petals from the Spring Bouquet punch.  I then cut all the petals off the flowers and adhered to the spine of the dinosaur. I followed this by using the cropadile’s large punch to punch out the spots and the eye for the dinosaur.  I put the dinosaur together and adhered to the lower right hand corner of the Whisper White Top Note.  For the birthday sentiment, I stamped the Birthday Wishes from the Party Punch stamp set, where I trimmed the outer and inner circle of the sentiment.  I then adhered the sentiment to 1 1/4″  Whisper White circle and followed this by using a number 9 sticker that I punched out with 1/2″ circle punch and adhered to the centre of the sentiment.  I adhered the birthday sentiment to 1 3/8″ Baja Breeze circle that I then adhered to the card using foam pads.  For the dinosaur I used the instruction from both Natasha and Kristen to help me but I improvised a little as I didn’t have all the punches they used.

Clean and Simple have a new sketch this week.  With my card,  I started with a base card made from Perfect Plum cardstock.  I then trimmed a piece of Whisper White card stock, which I embossed with the Victoria embossing folder and adhered to the Perfect Plum card base.  Using a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and Perfect Plum Ink, I stamped the birthday sentiment from the Sincere Salutations stamp set as well as stamping two Butterflies from the Butterfly Prints stamp set.   Using a scrap piece of Perfect Plum, I punched two large butterflies and two small butterflies as well as a square scallop and small flower.  I needed the two small butterflies because I accidently got some Perfect Plum ink on the embossed Whisper White cardstock.  I punched out the Birthday sentiment using the Large Oval Scallop punch and punched out another small flower from the Whisper White cardstock.  Then with a two-way glue pen, I put glue around the edges and sprinkled some dazzling diamonds over it.  I adhered the scallop oval to the square scallop and then to the base card.  I then trimmed the stamped butterflies and adhered them to the punched butterflies and then to the cardstock.  Using a cropadile I punched a hole through the centre of both the Purple and White flowers and joined them together with a white brad.  I then adhered the flower to the bottom of the card.

Paper: Whisper White, Perfect Plum
Ink: Perfect Plum

Stampin Royalty’s Challenge this week is a Punch Challenge.  I love punch art and for this challenge I decided to make an Owl.  I started with a base card made from Whisper White cardstock.  I then trimmed a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock and Camel coloured Textured cardstock.  With the Camel coloured Textured cardstock I punch the right hand side with the Scallop border punch.  I then adhered the Chocolate Chip and Camel coloured Textured cardstock to the base card.  I punched 1 Chocolate Chip Scallop Circle, 1 Chocolate Chip Round Tab, 2 1 3/8″ Chocolate Chip Circles, 1 Creamy Caramel Scallop circle, 2 flowers from the Spring Bouquet punch and 1 3/8″ circle from some Textured Cream cardstock.  For the beak and eyes I cut these out by hand, using Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla and Black Cardstock.  To make the feet I trimmed the 2 punched flowers so that I only had three petals left and adhered behind the Creamy Caramel Scallop circle.  I adhered the Creamy Caramel scallop circle behind the Chocolate Scallop circle and then adhered the Textured Cream coloured 1 3/8″ circle to the Chocolate Chip Scallop circle.  I followed this by adhering it to the Camel coloured textured cardstock.  To make the wings I used the Scallop circle punch on the 1 3/8″ Chocolate Chip circles and adhered to Chocolate Chip scallop circle.  I then adhered the Chocolate Chip Round Tab to make the head of the owl.  To finish off the face I adhered the eyes and beak that I had cut out.  Then using the Birthday sentiment from the Happy Moments stamp set I stamped Happy Birthday along the top of the card and at the bottom of the card.  I then stamped Happy Birthday on to a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and adhered to the bottom of the card with foam pads.

Stamps: Happy Moments
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Textured Camel, Textured Cream, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla, Black
Ink: Chocolate Chip

Just Add Ink has a new Sketch challenge this week.  At first I was a little stumped as to what I would do for this challenge.  I then decided to use one of the Chipboard Owls that I received in some blog candy that I won a few months ago from the Art with Heart Team.  I started with a base card made from Chocolate Chip cardstock and then I trimmed a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I embossed with the Swiss Dot Embossing folder.  I adhered the embossed Whisper White cardstock to the Chocolate Chip base card.  Using the Birthday Greeting from the Happy Moments stamp set, I stamped it multiple times on to a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock, using Chocolate Chip Ink.  I trimmed the greeting and placed it to one side.  I then trimmed a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock to be slightly larger  than the Birthday sentiments and adhered this behind the birthday sentiments.  I followed this by trimming a piece of Holiday Treasures DSP to use as background for the birthday sentiment and adhered the strip near the top of the card with the birthday sentiment.  Using the same piece of Holiday Treasures DSP, I cover the Chipboard Owl from the On Board So Tweet chipboard set using a 2 Way Glue Pen.  With the eyes and beak I covered these with some Riding Hood Red cardstock.  I then adhered the Owl to the lower left hand corner of the card and there you have my card for this Sketch.

Stampin’ Royalty’s Challenge this week is to Keep it Simple, Sweetie (KISS) .  I love the idea of this challenge and here is what I have come up with.  I started with a base card made of Whisper White cardstock.  I scored two lines on the front of the card and in between I adhered a piece of Rose Red DSP.  I used the Birthday sentiment from the Happy Moments stamp set and stamped it just above the top score line, using Purely Pomegranate.  I then punched 2 Butterflies and scallop circle out of the same Rose Red DSP.  With the scallop circle I made a small cuts every second scallop and folded the petal in half to add dimension to the flower.  Using Basic Black Ink, I stamped two butterflies bodies on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed with a pair of paper scissors.  I punched out 3 scallop squares and 1 scallop circle using Whisper White cardstock.  I adhered the 3 Scallop Squares to the card.  I then attached the butterfly bodies to the punched out Butterflies and adhered to the two outer scallop squares.  Using the Spring Bouquet punch, I punched a daisy flower out of Whisper White cardstock.  Using a red brad I joined the white scallop circle, the Rose Red DSP flower and the white daisy together and adhere to the centre scallop square.  There you have my take on this Challenge.

Stamps: Happy Moments, Butterfly Prints
Paper: Whisper White, Rose Red DSP
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Basic Black Ink
