Just Add Ink #36

Just Add Ink has a new sketch challenge this week.  For this challenge I decided to make a Get Well card for my daughter Alexandra as she has a bit of a cold at the moment and she needs a little cheering.  I started with a base card made from Whisper White cardstock ,which I embossed the Swiss Dot embossing folder.  I then cut a 2 inch strip of Jolly Holiday DSP which I adhered to the left hand side of the card.  For the ribbon I adhered some Early Espresso 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, in which I tied a flat bow.  I then punched out an Owl using Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Whisper White cardstock.  For the cross on the nurse’s hat I used the Double Rectangle punch.  I finished off the card with the Get Well sentiment from the Sincere Salutation stamp set.

Last week I participated in my first Just Scraps challenge and this week Jean has a new Challenge where you are required to use scraps of pink.  For this Challenge I decided to one of the Paper Piecing patterns I won last week from Just Scraps.  I started with a long base card made from Whisper White cardstock.  I then adhered a piece of Chocolate Chip scrap cardstock that was slightly smaller than the face of the base card.  I then trimmed a scrap piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock to be slightly smaller than the Chocolate Chip card.  I embossed the Pink Pirouette cardstock using the Swiss Dot embossing folder and then I adhered the embossed cardstock to the base card.  I then followed the instructions from the Paper Piecing pattern Francis using scrap pieces of pink Stampin Up DSP.  In the original pattern the Bear is drinking from a cup, but I turned it slightly to be more like a tissue, since my card was a get well soon card.  I adhered the pieces to the base card and then stamped a salutation from the Sincere Salutation stamp set.  I punched out the salutation using the large scallop oval punch.  I then punched a scrap piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock using the Curly Label Punch.  I cut the label in half and adhered behind the punched scallop oval.  I then adhered the wishes to the card with sash from the robe overlapping slightly.  Paper piecing is fun and if you havent tried it, you should give it ago.  It is amazing to watch scrap pieces of cardstock turn into bear.
