Just Add Ink has a new challenge this week. I thought it would be good to use this sketch with a new technique that I have been seeing online recently. The technique is where you use masking tape to add ink to your card. You ink up the masking tape and adhere it to the cardstock you want to stamp. For this challenge I adhered the masking tape in thin strips, using 4 of the current Stampin Up in colours, Pistachio Pudding, Baked Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush. I added a sentiment and acorns using versamark, early espresso embossing powder and a heat gun. I also made an envelope using some retired DSP, to tie in with the brown of the base card. Overall I think the card turned out well.

For Susannah

Stamps: Happy Moments (retired SAB), Punched Posies (retired hostess set)
Paper:  Concord Crush, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White , Pear Pizzaz In Color DSP pack (retired)
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight
Accessories:  Green Ice Brad, Foam pads

This card is for Susannah.  I promised Susannah last week that I would blog again but I didn’t get time and I thought I better do it this week as I dislike breaking promises.

For this card, I used the colour challenge from Stampin Royalty and the Sketch from Clean and SimpleBoth websites are great places to find some inspirations.  I started with a base card made from Concord Crush.  Before adding a layer of Pear Pizzaz In Color DSP pack (I substituted Pear Pizzaz for Certainly Celery as I had run out of cardstock), I trimmed a small strip from the front right side of the card.  Next came another piece of Concord Crush followed by a reverse piece of Pear Pizzaz In Color DSP (retired).  I added a strip of Whisper White cardstock and Tangerine Tango cardstock.  I stamped thank you from the Happy Moments stamp set (retired).  I then stamped two flowers and two leaves, which I trimmed with paper snips.  I adhered the leaves to the base card and then joined the two flowers with a green ice brad.  Once joined, I adhered the flower to the base card with a foam pad. There you have my take on this week’s Challenges and thank you to Susannah for inspiring me to blog again 🙂 and don’t forget to visit Stampin Royalty and Clean and Simple.

Just Add Ink #84

This week Just Add Ink have an interesting colour challenge.  Use white and one other colour.  For this challenge I decided to use Spring as my inspiration and I used So Saffron as my other colour choice.

Stamps: For You Flower
Paper:  Whisper White, Apricot Appeal , Washington Apple DSP (retired)
Ink: So Saffron
Accessories:  Fancy Flower Punch, Itty Bitty Circle Punch, Paper Piercer, Paper Piercing Mat, Paper Piercing template, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch.

I started with a base card made from Whisper White cardstock and then added a layer of Washington Apple DSP (retired).  Using a paper piercer, paper-piercing template and mat,  I pierced holes around a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I adhered the pierced Whisper White cardstock to the base card.  Using So Saffron ink, I then stamped the For You Flower(retired) stamp twice.  I punched the first flower with the Fancy Flower punch and for the second, I punched out the centre of the flower using the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch.  Before adhering the punched out centre to the flower, I pierced the largest ‘you’ word.  I then stamped a sentiment from the So Happy For You  stamp set (retired) and punched out three Itty Bitty circles from a piece of scrap Washington Apple DSP.  To finish off the card I added a thin strip of cardstock.  I think the strip might be Apricot Appeal (retired) and not So Saffron as I first thought.

Just Add Ink have a Theme Challenge this week.  The theme is tearing/distressing.

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Sand (non SU), Autumn Spice DSP (retired)
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories:  Owl Punch (for small heart), I heart heart punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Itty Bitty Flower Punch, Itty Bitty Buttons, Twine, Ovals Die, Glue Dots, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Paper Piercer, Sponge, Piercing Mat and Template

I started with a piece of Always Artichoke texture cardstock which I folded into a tri shutter fold card.  I decorated the card using Chocolate Chip cardstock, Texture Sand coloured cardstock and Autumn Spice DSP.  On the chocolate chip panels in the centre and on the 2nd and 4th fold of the card, I distressed the edges using my thumb nail.  I then sponged the outer edges with Chocolate Chip ink and added Chocolate Chip hearts to 2nd and 4th fold.  In the centre I added the sentiment ‘Congratulation’ from the Well Scripted stampset.  I tore around the sentiment and them sponged the outer edges using Chocolate Chip ink. I adhered the sentiment using dimensional.

I then created two outer panels in the centre of the card using Autumn Spice DSP and Sand Coloured textured cardstock.  I added twine, hearts and itty bitty heart buttons.  For the remaining panels I used Sand Coloured textured card stock with Autumn Spice DSP.  On the outer edges, I used the paper piercer, piercing  mat and template to pierce around the outer edges.  I also pierced the some of the flowers on the DSP on the 2nd and 4th fold.

For the front and the back of the card I added panels and then decorated the back panel with Chocolate Chip hearts that I crushed and manipulated until the cardstock separated to make two hearts.  On the front I adhered an oval sentiment that I stamped with the Little Hellos stamp set.  I coloured the icing on the cake with Frost White Shimmer paint.  I added a small Chocolate Chip heart to the top of the cake.  For the outer edge of the oval, I adhered the Scallop Trim Border that I had punched out using Chocolate Chip cardstock.

I finished off the card by adding a flower that I made using the Boho Blossom punch, Itty Bitty flower punch and an itty bitty flower button.

This week Just Add Ink have a Black And White theme Challenge.  At first I was a little stumped as to what type of card to make for this challenge, but then my husband asked me if I could make a wedding card for his cousin.

I started with a base card that was made from Basic Black card stock.  I then added a layer of Whisper White cardstock that I stamped with the En Francais background stamp using Basic Black ink.   Next I made a oragami dress which I embossed with the Devine Swirl embossing folder.  I then added a thin strip of satin ribbon to the dress and adhered the dress to the base card using foam pads.  Next I stamped the words MR & MRS from the basic phrase stamp set and adhered it to the base card with a black mount behind it.  I then adhered two black hearts on either side, which I punched out using the Owl Punch.

To completed the card I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of the base card and stamped the word Congratulations from the Well Scripted stamp set.  To finish off I added 4 black hearts, one in each corner of the card.

Stamps: En Francais, Basic Phrases, Well Scripted

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, white origami paper
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Devine Swirl embossing folder, foam dots, Owl Punch (for small hearts), thin White Satin ribbon

Just Add Ink has a new theme challenge this week that is around Pink and Bling.  The theme is inspired by the Cancer Council’s national Pink Ribbon Day on the October 25th.   Cancer is still such a frightening thing and lots of research and understanding is still required.  My mother passed away when I was 23.  She did not died of breast cancer, however she did died of cancer and there are so many of us that are touched by the effects of cancer.  Please support this day anyway you can, nothing is too small, because everything we do shows that we care.  For this challenge I made a card in memory of my mother.  I started with a base card of Whisper White cardstock.  I then embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Swiss Dot embossing folder and trimmed a piece of scrap Bella Rose DSP.  I adhered the embossed cardstock, Bella Rose DSP and Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon to the base card.  I then added a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock that I punched with the Scallop Trim corner and Scallop Trim border Punch to make a frame.  I then trimmed a piece of Pear Pizzazz it to be slightly smaller than the punched frame and adhered it to the frame.  I followed this by stamping a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Hydrangea from the Because I Care hostess set, using Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz ink.  I then sponged the flower with some Blushing Bride ink and a dauber.  I trimmed the stamped image and adhered it to the Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  I finished off by stamping the sentiment from the Because I Care stamp set using Basic Black ink and adding 4 pink pearls.

Stamps: Because I Care
Paper: Whisper White, blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Bella Rose DSP
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black
Accessories:   Scallop Trim Corner, Scallop Trim Border, Swiss Dot embossing folder, Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon, Pink Pearls, Sponge dauber.

I love you mum and I miss you…..
