I decided to combine two Challenges today.  Just Add Ink are asking for a project made in the colours of your favourite Chocolate.  At this time of year my favourite Chocolates are small Cadbury Easter Eggs :).  They come in various colours so I picked a small green one for my inspiration.  The other Challenge I am participating in, is one from the girls at Double Dutch.  They are asking for participants to create an Easter basket.  For these Challenges, I started with a Whisper White template of the Sweetie Pouch that is on the Waltzing Mouse Stamps site.  I then cut out a copy of the template( without the base) using Cottage Wall DSP.  I adhered the DSP to the outside of the Whisper White Template.  Using the Scallop Trim Border Punch, I trimmed the top edges of the pouch.  To make the pouch I then adhered the edges  of the  base together with Double Sided Tape as well as adhering the front of the pouch.  I then punched out a series of  different sized Scallop Circles and  I stamped the words ‘For You’ from the Basic Phrase stamp set using Pear Pizzaz ink.  I punched out the sentiment using the 1 3/8″ inch Circle Punch.  I adhered the scallop circles and the circle together and finished it off with adding Dazzling Diamonds, a small heart and small punched out circles from the Owl Punch.  I added the sentiment to the pouch using foam pads.  I then filled the pouch with mini easter eggs and finished off with come cellophane and Old Olive Satin Ribbon.  I then decided to make a card to go with the pouch, because what is a gift without a card :).

Sorry my photos are not better.  I will have to take them again in the morning as the flash seems to have flashed out the colours.

The girls from Double Dutch have a new challenge this week.  They are asking for a card or creation that is the shape of an Easter Egg!  I decided to keep my egg simple.  I started with a base Whisper White card slightly smaller than a standard card.  I drew and egg on the front of the card and trimmed around the shape of the egg, I made sure that I did not cut all the way around, otherwise I would have had two eggs :). I then embossed the front of the card using the Birds and Swirls embossing folder.  I coloured the embossed vines, birds and flowers using blue, pink and green chalk.  I then stamped some flowers using the SU stamp set Looks Like Spring and Regal Rose ink.  I then punched out the flowers using the SU punch Spring Bouquet and adhered them randomly over the egg.  I then tied a double stitched pink ribbon around the egg and finished off with an Easter Greeting sticker inside the card.  Als u Nederlands bent en een commentaar zou willen verlaten dat kan.  Ik kan het Nederlands lezen.  Ik heb alleen maar probleem om het Nederlands te schrijven.

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a Sketch Challenge.  I decided to make another Easter Card, because I have been meaning to use the Easter stamp from the Load of Love Accessories stamp set that I have.  To make this card, it required a bit of work as there are many layers and a lot of cutting involved, but I do think it was worth the effort.  I started with a base card of Whisper White and then applied a layer of Kiwi Kiss that I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder, on the bottom half of the card and on the top half I used some Bella Rose DSP, which I put two black brads in the top left corner.  I then stamped a piece of cream textured card stock, multiple times with one of the trees from the Lovely As A Tree stamp set using Kiwi Kiss Ink.  I then took a piece of red card stock, which I stamped two trucks from the Loads Of Love stamp set using Chocolate Chip Ink.  I then cut out both trucks and with one of the trucks, I cut off the front of the truck, leaving what now looks like a trailer.  With a Chocolate Chip marker I drew a line on the edge that was cut away from the truck to make it looked stamped.  I also kept a small bit from the bottom of the truck to make the connector between the truck and the trailer.  I then stamped the tyres 6 times.  3 times on Black cardstock and 3 times on Whisper White Cardstock  using Chocolate Chip ink.  I then cut out the out the black tyres and with the white tyres I only cut out the centres and layer them over the black tyre centres. I stamped the man from the Loads of Love Accessories stamp set twice, once on Whisper White cardstock and once on a scrap piece of Washington Apple DSP.  With the eggs from the Load of Love accessories, I stamped them twice on a piece of scrap DSP that is mainly So Saffron in colour ( I got it in Blog Candy I won, so I dont know the name sorry).  I cut out the eggs and put them aside.  I then took a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock that I punched with the Scallop Border Punch and adhered to Bella Rose DSP and Embossed Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I followed this with a layer of Kiwi Kiss and then the textured cream cardstock that has the base of three trees from the Lovely As A Tree stamp set.  I then adhered the truck, trailer, connector, tyres and eggs to the cardstock.  I trimmed the shirt of the man stamped on Washington Apple DSP and layered it over the trimmed image of the man stamped on the Whisper White card stock.  I then stamped the ‘Eggstra special easter wishes’ sentiment from the Loads of Love Accessories stamp set on Whisper White Cardstock, that I then trimmed and backed with a piece of Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate chip cardstock.  I placed this in the lower right hand corner and there you have my Easter Card.  I am going to give this card to my son since I borrowed his Load Of Love stamp set to make this card :).

Just Add Ink have a new Challenge this week.  They have asked that everyone create something that is just Easter.  I have already made a few Easter things, so I had to think of something new.  It really wasnt that hard to think of something else because I had just bought a new Easter Stamp the other day and I have been dying to use it.  The stamp I bought is called Bunny Friends by Penny Black.  The rabbits on this stamp are just so adorable.  I made two cards for this challenge.  One card using bright colours and the other card using softer colours.   I prefer the softer colours, but my children like the brighter colours.

With the first card I made I started with the brighter colours.  I  embossed a piece of Kiwi Kiss using the cuttlebug folder Victoria.  I then layer a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock on to the embossed Kiwi Kiss.  I stamped the Bunny Friends stamp using Chocolate Chip ink on some Watercolouring Paper and then coloured the image using my aqua pen with my Stampin Up markers.  I used the colours Only Orange,YoYo Yellow,Gable Green, Ruby Red, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate Chip, Pretty Ink Pink, Pixie Pink and Old Olive.  I then made a bow using Chocolate Chip Grosgrain, a green button and a piece of twine.  I adhered the ribbon to the layered cardstock.  I used a greeting from Eggcoutrement stampset.  First I stamped it on a piece of Kiwi Kiss using Kiwi Kiss Ink and then again on Whisper White using Chocolate Chip.  I trimmed the greetings and layered the Chocolate Chip over the Kiwi Kiss greeting over each other and placed in the lower right hand corner.  I then adhered the layer cardstock to a base card made from whisper White cardstock.  With the second card I used more subtle colours.  I  used fairly much the same process above except I used the Cuttlebug folder Swiss Dot and used the marker colours of Pale Plum, Blush Blossom, Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink Pixie Pink, Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery.  I  made a bow using Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain, a pale purple button and a piece of twine.  I adhered the ribbon to the layered cardstock.  I used a greeting from Eggcoutrement stampset.   The cardstock colours I used were Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Pale Plum as well as a Rhinestone.

 Stamps: Bunny Friends, Eggcoutrements

Stampamemory has a new Challenge this week.  They are asking for a famous quote that means a lot to you or perhaps a funny quote from a family member or friend that you’d like to record.  I chose quotes that mean a lot to me and because I have two of them I made two layouts.  On the first layout I chose the quote “All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt” .  This quote is from the Peanuts Cartoon.  I used this quote with photos that we took of the children at the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt in 2008.  My children really love Easter and all the craft things they get to make, but I think a lot of it has to do with the chocolate.  With the layout I used Bella Rose DSP for the background and the words, which I cut out by hand.  I then cut out 5 medium eggs and 9 small eggs also by hand, using Candy Land DSP and Holiday Treasure DSP.  I made a flower using two scallop circles punched out of Bella Rose DSP and Real Red.  I joined them together with a brad and a Chocolate Chip daisy from the flowers I punched using the Spring Bouquet punch.

Paper: Whisper White, Candy Lane DSP,Bela Rose DSP, Holiday Treasure DSP, Chocolate Chip, Real Red
Accessories: Brown Brad, Spring Flower Bouquet punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Heart to Heart Punch,Scallop Circle Punch

On the second layout I chose the quote “Our memory of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone” .  I cant remember where this quote came from, but it one that I think of often when the children are walking along the beach looking for shells.  So I used this quote with photos that we took of the children at Brighton Beach in 2008.  My children really love when we go there and they can walk along the shoreline.   With the layout I used Washington Apple DSP for the background and the words I cut out by hand using Pacific Point ( I really need to get some alphabet dies for my cuttlebug).  I then punched some hearts with the heart to heart punch using Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point and Summer Sun cardstock.  I also used this card stock as background for the 4 small photos and the large photo.  I punched some Pacific Point cardstock using the scallop border punch and the curly label punch as well.  I  printed my saying out on the printer and used Pumpkin Pie and Summer Sun cardstock as backing for the saying with the pacific blue curly label behind that.

Easter Basket

On the weekend The Art with Heart team had a blog hop and on  Judy May’s site she had a really sweet basket that I had to make.  The basket I made is almost exactly the same as the one Judy made but since I dont have all the punches and buttons, I improvised a little on the flower and with the leaves ,I used kiwi kiss and one of the tree stamps from my trendy tree set.  I have to say that my trendy tree set is one of my most versatile sets, I get to use it for trees, leaves and for making background :).

With the Basket, I used the free template from Gina K.  Once I cut out the basket and handle I then cut 2 pieces of Kiwi Kiss cardstock for the front and back sides of the basket.  With the 2 pieces of Kiwi Kiss I cut them 1 cm smaller than the dimensions of the side.  But it is up to you how large or small you want to make them.  You also don’t have to use then at all if you don’t want to.  I just like how the Kiwi Kiss brings out the colours of the flowers from the Bella Rose DSP.  With the Bella Rose DSP I cut 2 strips of 3cm by 8cm and adhered using snail tape.  Just make sure that when you are placing it on the side that you leave enough room to use the eyelet border punch.  I used the eyelet border punch to decorate the edges and the handle.  On the handle I used a thicker strip of Bella Rose DSP than Judy, but how you want to decorate the handle is up to you.  I attached the handle using brads.  This is probably not a good idea, because when you put eggs in the basket, if one side weighs more than the other, the basket will tilt. So you may want to attach it via tape and a brad 🙂  For the flower I used Bella Rose DSP for the bottom scallop and I used a piece of red card stock for the top scallop, which I cut every second scallop.  I then folded some a little up to add a bit of depth.  Since I didn’t have the Boho Blossoms punch that Judy was using, I used the Spring Bouquet punch from last years catalogue.  I punched the daisy flower out of whisper white paper and then attached the two scallops, the white daisy and a green button from my button jar,  using some sewing thread.  I repeated the process so that I had two flowers, one for each side of the basket and attached using foam pads.  I hope you like the basket as much as I do.

The above colour combination (Green Galore, Summer Sun, Only Orange, Pixie Pink) are Stampin Royalty’s colour challenge for this week.  When I saw these colours they reminded me of Easter and I decided to make an Easter card and basket.  I really like Easter, because the kids love it so much and they come home with wonderful creations that they make at school.  I also like Easter because I get to make things and put out my easter decorations.  When I was in Europe in 2006 I bought a little tree where I can hang Easter ornaments from.  It is the cutest thing and I am not sure why we dont have them here in Australia.  If I get time, I will take a picture of it and put it on my blog.  For the basket I used a simple weave technique.  I used Only Orange for the base and weaved small strips of green card through the slits I made in the only orange cardstock.  Always remember to weave through the opposite slits from the previous weave otherwise you wont get a weave look.  Once all the strips have been weaved I then scored the cardstock so I could fold up the sides and join them together with sticky strip.  Remember to use sticky strip at the ends of the green strips you are weaving.  It is hard to stick them down once you have scored the card and made the basket shape.  I then cut a 2 inch wide strip of green card to make the handle and used the eyelet border punch on both sides for decoration.   I then stamped the rabbit from Eggcoutrements and cut it out with scissors and punched some stamped Spring Flowers that I attached to either side of the rabbit and two on the handle.  With the card I used Whisper white cardstock and then layered a piece of green card and another piece of whisper white cardstock, that I had put through the cuttlebug using the Swiss Dot folder.  I tied the ivory ribbon around the green card and whisper white and attached the large Daisy from the Looks Like Spring stampset and used snail adhesive to attach it to the Whisper White base.  I then stamped a series of the smaller flowers using pixie pink, only orange and summer sun, which I then punched with the Spring Flower Bouquet Punch.  I attached the flowers using snail adhesive.  To finish of the card I stamped one of the Easter sentiments from the Eggcoutrement stamp set.
