I was looking on you tube the other day and came across a really beautiful card and I decided to case it. I did take the liberty of using different colours, sentiment stamp and embossing folder. This card is fairly simple to make and I think it has a real wow factor to it. I started with a whisper white base card which was trimmed to be in proportion with the embossed piece of whisper white cardstock. Just remember you should stamp your sentiment before adhering your flower. I got a little carried away with making my flower and did it afterwards and it was a bit fiddly to stamp. I then embossed 2 pieces of blushing bride cardstock which I then punched out 8 Petals using the Blossom Petal builder. Using a piece of sponge, I then went over the embossed image with some blushing bride ink. It really adds some depth, however you could follow the instructions on youtube and brayer the card. I believe that both are affective. I then adhered 4 petals to the base card and then curled 4 petals using my bone folder before adding them to the flower. I then punched out 2 old olive leaves and sponged the edges to add some depth. I tucked the leaves a little under the flower. I finished off the flower using an antique brad.

Clean and Simple have a new sketch this week. I decided to vary the sketch slightly as the flower I wanted to use was a little bit too big to leave the square in the middle.
Stamps: Happy Moments (retired)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Bella Rose DSP(retired
Accessories: Blossom Punch, Owl Punch (for small dots and circles in the centre of the flower), Devine Swirl embossing folder, Swiss Dot embossing folder
I started with a base card made from Basic Black cardstock and added a layer of Swiss Dot embossed Whisper White cardstock. I then punched out series of small dots using the Owl Punch. I adhered the dots around the edge of the embossed cardstock. With a square piece of Bella Rose DSP, I adhered a piece of Basic Black cardstock behind it and then adhered it to the base card. Next, I punched two flowers with the Blossom Punch and two circle using the Owl Punch. With the black blossom I cut out all the petals so that I could adhere them behind the white blossom. I embossed the flower using the Devine Swirl Embossing folder. I added the two circles to the centre of the card and then I cut the petal down to the centre circles. I then used the Bone Folder to shape the petals. I adhered the flower to the base card using two dimensional to give it a little extra height. To finish off the card i added the birthday sentiment from the Happy Moments stampset.

Sorry for not blogging in a while. There are times in life when things can get more hectic than others and you stop certain things so that you can have some breathing space. I have been making some cards, but I havent had much time to blog. I was recently told that my father has pancreatic cancer. It was a bit of a shock. My mother passed away from cancer 19 years ago and now to hear that my father has cancer it has really affected me…..
For my first blog in a while I have decided to participate in the Just Add Ink Challenge, Just Add … Mother. Even though my mother passed away many years ago, I always think of her on Mother’s Day. Mothers are very special and are with you always.
I started with a base card made from Whisper White cardstock. I then trimmed and scored some Pretty In Pink cardstock to be slightly smaller than the face of the card. I set the scored cardstock to one side. I then trimmed some more Pretty In Pink cardstock to be slightly smaller than the centre of the open card. I folded this cardstock in half and then folded the edges inwards in the opposite direction to the centre. I flattened out the cardstock and used one of the Label Collection Framelit Dies to cut out a window in the centre. I then took a piece of regal rose scrap and cut out a smaller Label Collection Framelit Die. I adhered the Regal Rose to the Pretty in Pink Cardstock and then adhered it to the inside of the Whisper White card. Using a Stampamajig I stamped the Thank You stamp from the retired Little Hellos stampset. Using a blender pen I coloured in the flowers and the leaves. I then adhered the scored cardstock to the face of the base card and attached little hearts from the owl punch, as well as flowers from the Blossom punch. I finished the front of the card by adding the wonderful mother sentiment from the Well Scripted stamp set and adding pearls and a small butterfly. Inside the card I added more butterflies and hearts.
There you have my take on this weeks challenge. The idea for the fold came from Beccy Muir website. I was so taken with her card that I decided to case it for my mother’s day card.
