Stampamemory have a new Challenge this week and I have to say that this is not an easy challenge for me. The challenge requires that you create a layout containing a photo of yourself and listing 5 things you LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF. There are not many photos of me, as I have a tendency to avoid cameras and I was not really sure what I think about myself. I asked my children what they thought about me and they came up with marvelous, magnificent, miraculous, memorable and very mummy. These are all wonderful things that they said about me and I think it is funny that they seem to associate me with everything that starts with the letter M, so I decided I really should think about what I like about myself and I came up with 5 things.
1. That I can express myself through my creativity
2. That I appreciate the little things in life
3. That I can be silly at times
4. That I like to learn new things
and lastly 5. I like the person my children have made me become.
For my page I started by trimming a piece of Raspberry Tart DSP as well as some Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette cardstock to use as backing for the main photo of myself. I then punched 8 scallop circles, using Kiwi Kiss and Raspberry Tart DSP and put them to one side. Using my printer, I printed out the 5 things I like about myself, as well as part of the main title for my page, using Whisper White cardstock. With my 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, I punched out 4 of the 5 things I like about myself and with the last sentence, I used the 1 1/4″ circle punch. I accidently picked up the wrong punch and it seems quite funny it was on the comment ‘That I can be silly at times’. 🙂 I adhered the 5 comments about myself to the Raspberry Tart scallop circles I punched earlier and I used the 1 3/8″ punch to punch out 3 photos of myself at different stages in my life . I adhered the punched out photos to the Kiwi Kiss scallop circles. With a pencil and piece of Kiwi Kiss scrap cardstock, I drew some branches, like those on the Little Leaves Sizzlits die. I cut them out with my scissors and placed them to one side.
To create my layout, I started with a piece of 12″ x 12″ Regal Rose Textured cardstock. I then placed the main photo in the top left hand corner and adhered the scallop circles at various points on the page, keeping the comments about myself to the lower section of the page. I then placed the cut out of the branches along the right hand side of the page, followed by adhering the printed out title to the right of the main photo. To finish off the title, I used some felt alphabet stickers for the last word ‘Me”. Finally, I randomly adhered some Pink Pirouette stars that I had punched out with a small star punch. I used the Stars as it is a bit of a joke with my work colleagues as well as family and friends. I get teased about being a ‘Super Star’. :). I hope you like my page, it was really fun to make and it reminds me that I should scrap more things about myself otherwise my children will have nothing to look back on later in life. I know what it is like to not have your mother any more, as mine died when I was 23 years old and I am so glad that I have photos of her.
