Stampamemory has a new Challenge this week, they are asking for a us to create a baby orientated page in non traditional baby colours (so not heaps of pastel pink or blue) and the fabulous prize is the Fox and Friends Stamp set from the new Autumn/ Winter Mini Catalogue. For this challenge I decided to scrap some pictures of Erik chewing on his teething Rusk. The Rusks really use to soothes his mouth, when his teeth were coming through. I started with a 12 x 12 piece of So Saffron textured cardstock, which I chose because it went so nicely with the colour of the back of Erik’s high chair. This cardstock is part of the cardstock that I won from Sue Madex in the last challenge. It was such a wonderful prize and I even got to pick the colour range that I would like, which was Rich Regals. I have never used this cardstock before for scrapping and it is just wonderful.
To start creating the layout, I punched a scallop border out of Washington Apple DSP using the scallop border punch. I then punched out a series of curly labels using, Baja Breeze and Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then some from Bella Bleu DSP. I followed this with punching out some hearts using the Heart to Heart punch. I attached the hearts to 4 of the curly labels and then used some sticker Lettering to put Erik’s name on the hearts. I got the lettering from my friend Nancy, so a big thank you to you. I stamped 3 of the animals from the Wild About You set and 3 Dinosaurs from the Dino Mite stamp set, using the ink colours Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Baja Breeze. I trimmed around the dinosaurs and other animals and placed them to one side. Behind 2 of the smaller photos I place a curly label behind one of the corners as a backing for the photo. On the larger Photos and the cardstock I was using as backing for the journaling, I put curly labels at opposite corners. I then adhered the photos to the So Saffron cardstock as well as the backing for the journaling. I placed animals next to the smaller pictures and one over lapping the larger picture. I then wrote out some words to do with Erik’s teething, which went ” My little teeth were coming though and I just didn’t know what to do. So Mummy gave me a teething Rusk and I sat there and chewed, chewed, chewed”. I adhered my jouranling to the Pumpkin Pie backing and then placed two dinosaurs in two of the corners. And there you have my scrap page and hopefully my colours are not too traditional. Looking at this page makes it hard for me to believe that my little Erik will be 9 this year.
